About
Tacos Hernandez is a hidden gem located at 21009 Great Mills Rd in Lexington Park, MD, offering a blend of authentic Mexican flavors and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. As a food reviewer of MenuJoyy, I had the pleasure of diving into their menu and exploring the array of options they have to offer.
Customers rave about the friendly and helpful staff, who add a personal touch to the dining experience. The star of the show at Tacos Hernandez are the carne asada tacos, marinated and seasoned to perfection, earning high praise from diners. The handmade tortillas and savory chunks of meat make for a truly satisfying meal.
In addition to the tacos, customers also recommend trying the house specialties like the al pastor torta and breakfast burritos. The menu boasts vegan options for those looking for plant-based alternatives. The mango juice, freshly prepared with 100% mango juice, is a refreshing accompaniment to any meal.

The private parking lot adds convenience to the dining experience, making it easy for patrons to enjoy a flavorful meal without any hassle. “ Great food and very friendly and helpful staff! Food was authentic and the habanero hot sauce was excellent with it. ”
“ We saw Tacos Hernandez while in the area, and we knew we had to stop by due to their awesome signage! Their menu offers a standard menu, as well as their house specialties and breakfast items. We ordered: +Quesabirria - comes with 3; the meat itself could have been a bit more juicy, as it was slightly dried out; the consommé was delicious and a great complement +Tacos - we ordered 2 pollo tacos and 2 carne asada tacos; the shredded chicken tacos were forgettable, and we weren't really fans; the star of the show, however, were the carne asada tacos - these chunks of meat were marinated and seasoned very well, and were savory and delicious; there were some chunks with some fat, which the hubs loved; the handmade tortillas were great +a mango juice - freshly prepared, it seems, as it seemed literally 100% juice of a mango; not too sweet either We'd love to try their breakfast or their regular burritos next time, and we're hoping that horchata will be available on the next visit! This is definitely a family -owned and -run business; the staff were super sweet, kind, and welcoming! The restaurant is small and cozy, with a handful of seating. Finding such a cute little authentic Mexican spot in such a random area was a pleasant surprise! Plenty of parking available. +tasty carne asada! +friendly & kind staff and service +parking available ”
“ Small place, Very good tacos and great breakfast burrito. I would recommend. Nice staff as well. ”
“ It's rare to find legit Mexican in the DMV. To find it in southern Maryland was a surprise. The carnitas and carne asada were California good and the portions were good. Service was decent. Totally what you would expect from a little joint. The atmosphere is a step or two above a home in the wall.... totally what you want for a taco/burrito shop. Definitely worth checking out. ”
“ I have been meaning to try this since they opened and I had the opportunity to head over there a couple weeks ago. I ordered the al pastor torta. It was delicious. In retrospect I should've eaten it fresh right there in the restaurant but I took it home a short drive away. By then the bread was soggy but I just engorged in it like that kid with the chocolate cake in the 90s movie Matilda. ”
“ If you're looking for a flavor.. Friendly owners and a meal that won't break the bank.. you need to eat here!!! I had 2 Tostadas- Pastor and Chorizo:). Both were fantastic! Crispy flat corn shell loaded I mean loaded with beans, lettuce , tomatoes, feta cheese, meats and their own sauce's:). Seriously with a tip only $15. I will be back.. Hope to see the place packed the next time I go.. ”
“ Came towards closing but the staff was pleasant and food made to order and came out pretty quick. Small place with 5 tables but clean and quiet. We enjoyed Barilla tacos with delicious flavor and consommé and tostados with pastor and chorizo accompanied by homemade sauces. Enjoyed!! ”
“ I am new to the area and found this place scrolling around a map looking for lunch. We got tacos, guacamole and a side of rice and beans. We also got all 3 of their hot sauces on the side. Everything was delicious. My hubs did prefer the chicken and pork over the asada taco which he thought was too chewy and fatty. The tortillas are thick corn tortillas so no tearing apart when you try to eat them! Authentic places like this are hard to find in St. Mary's. They also have vegan soy meat available and it was tasty- so bring anyone! We will absolutely return for takeout and maybe add photos of food... we scarfed it down too quickly ”
